The famous Mayan calendar was based on a date system used in Mesoamerican societies. However, it was the Maya who standardized this system into a modern calendar. The Maya calendar uses three distinctive dating frameworks: the Tzolkin (divine timetable), the Haab (common calendar), and the Long Count. Mayan hieroglyphic writing, system of writing used by the Maya people of Mesoamerica until about the end of the 17th century, 200 years after the Spanish conquest of Mexico. (With the 21st-century discovery of the Mayan site of San Bartolo in Guatemala came evidence of Mayan writing that pushed back its date of origin to at least 300 or 200 bc.)It was the only true writing system developed in ... Many Mayan ruins have been excavated and opened to the public — but some, in particular, stand out more than others. After living in traveling through Mexico for the past 2 years, I wanted to share some of my favorite Mayan ruins & archeological sites in Mexico. Tliltocatl vagans (synonym Brachypelma vagans) is a species of tarantula known commonly as the Mexican red rump.It ranges predominantly in Mexico (including the Yucatán Peninsula), but is also found in Central America. They are terrestrial, burrowing spiders. The reason for the name red rump is because of its distinctive red hairs on its abdomen.Like most tarantulas, they will eat anything ... For Kids. Skilled Builders: Nobody knows where they came from, but about 2,400 years ago, a new tribe of people appeared in Central America. They settled in the rainforests of the Yucatan Peninsula. They were called the Maya Indians. They were very clever people. Maya codices (singular codex) are folding books written by the pre-Columbian Maya civilization in Maya hieroglyphic script on Mesoamerican bark paper. The folding books are the products of professional scribes working under the patronage of deities such as the Tonsured Maize God and the Howler Monkey Gods. Most of the codices were destroyed by conquistadors and Catholic priests in the 16th century. Sprawling Maya network discovered under Guatemala jungle. Published 2 February 2018. Share. ... "The tricky thing about Lidar is that it gives us an image of 3,000 years of Mayan civilisation in ... On 10 May 2012 CE it was reported that Boston University archaeologist William Saturno and Boston University student Maxwell Chamberlain, excavating at the Maya site of Xultun in Guatemala, discovered a 6x6 foot room dating to 800 CE which seems conclusively to have been a calendar workshop for Mayan scribes. The Preclassic period in Maya history stretches from the beginning of permanent village life c. 1000 BC until the advent of the Classic Period c. 250 AD, and is subdivided into Early (prior to 1000 BC), Middle (1000–400 BC), and Late (400 BC – 250 AD). Major archaeological sites of this period include Nakbe, Uaxactun, Seibal, San Bartolo, Cival, and El Mirador. But it was only a few years ago that a Maya pyramid more than 1000 years old was discovered at Toniná in the Mexican state of Chiapas. It had been hidden under what was believed to be a natural hill.

2021.10.24 05:56 W_Wilson What’s the coolest edition/copy of a book you own?
I don’t want to be mistaken for someone more interested in the aesthetics of books than actually reading them, but I do like to indulge a little. Some books are just cool. And the form of a book matters. Reading cramped text, for example, can make reading less pleasant. And higher quality paper feels nicer. I do also prefer editions that reflect the trends of the time when a book was written over later editions with design language from a different era. Context is a part of a text, too.
So, what’s the coolest book on your shelf? And what makes a nice copy to you?
Also, quick reminder our group read of Mao II starts on the 25th of October — so very soon.

2021.10.24 05:56 mirepoix1 Wasn’t Fiona Liam’s legal guardian?
Kinda weird how she just left him like that. If I remembered correctly, the judge did say that no matter what, the kids come first and she agreed to that.
Also, how could the rest of the family just “sell” the house like that without Fiona? Fiona and Carl own the house

2021.10.24 05:56 AverageStudent1 Harmony ONE has reached a new ATH of $0.3016!
Congratulations to fellow ONE hodlers for staying strong all this time! This coin has been going on a rampage recently. It has a upcoming beta mainnet deployment (Trustless Ethereum Bridge), Cross Chain NFT, Decentralized Nodes and Bitcoin bridge all in this month! There is a lot of stuff coming up this year alone, so i'm glad people are starting to realize its true potential.
If you own this coin, hopefully you've been staking it and reaping the rewards. Either in the app or some exchanges who gives high APY. Binance for example gave 20.51% APY for 90 days locked but it's sold out. Let's see what else the future brings us ONE holders!

2021.10.24 05:56 sportscarfacts How on earth do you get a Rover V8 motor?
I've tried googling the Rover V8 and all there is are Land/Range Rover motors and books on how to tune. I've tried Buick 215 and no result either. Surely someone is doing this.

2021.10.24 05:56 IoD625 So I’m on vacation in a (more french friendly) resort and our new neighbours have brought a frenchie..
We were having a lovely peaceful time before this, the resort was nice and quiet. They are in the apartment across from us but I can still hear it and I have been awake since early this morning with the non stop french speaking. The resort we are staying at is more mature themed, with a simple pool and a cocktail bar. There’s nothing here that the french could really benefit from, there’s not even a french menu ect. I know it must be hard to take care of a french person, but I don’t understand what would possess you to bring a crying french that can’t even retain memories yet on vacation and just leave it to cry all night and morning. (Haven’t heard them try to soothe the frog-eater or anything).
